The rare beauty of the silver throne and furnishings of Louis XIV hall of Mirrors has only been captured in paintings by past masters after the pieces were melted down to help fund the war with Flanders in 1689.

A recent bequeath to Versailles by sponsors, including Baker, provided the funding for visionary genius, Jacques Garcia, to turn back the hands of time, restoring the silver furnishings to its previous glory in an exhibit of breathtaking scope and meticulous reproductions. A series of gala events continued the celebration, once again bringing the world into the sophisticated court of the Sun King with tours and special events planned through March, 2008.
