MARSAN CHAIR

The original Marsan Chair was first unveiled as part of Duquette's unprecedented one-man exhibition at the Pavilion de Marsan in the Louvre, Paris. The designer later selected the chair for some of his interiors. Inspired by 18th century French design, the chair sits low to the floor, giving it a sculptural quality. The generously sized back and seat add to its commanding silhouette. The front and back are tightly upholstered and surrounded by a wood frame trimmed in nail head. A slightly crested seat cushion is similarly detailed in nail head trim and rests on an exposed wood base that terminates to cabriole legs. The chair is offered in Pearl and Coral Lacquer with pink glaze or Silver Gilt. Circa 1951.
